About Turbulence

Turbulence.org commissions emerging and established artists who explore the creative potential of the Internet and wireless networks, using existing technologies and/or developing new applications to originate innovative, interdisciplinary work.

Now celebrating its 10th Anniversary (1996-2006), Turbulence has commissioned, exhibited, and archived over 100 original works, and hosted over 20 multilocation performance events. In 2004, it launched its networked_performance blog; and it curates Upgrade! Boston, a
monthly gathering for new media artists, curators and the public at Art Interactive.

Until February 28, New England artists are invited to submit proposals to Turbulence's New England Initiative II: Net Art and Hybrid Networked Art.

Turbulence is supported by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Jerome Foundation, the LEF Foundation, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a State agency, mediaThe foundation inc., the Murray G. and Beatrice H. Sherman Charitable Trust, the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, the New York State Council on the Arts, a State agency, and The Greenwall Foundation.
