Project Description/Abstract: "Communication media have always been tools for maintaining societies and representing shared beliefs by manipulating the presentation and human intake of information. I have set out to explore some of the influences communication media have on shaping the human consciousness and nature of identity. I examine the evolution of communication technologies, their capabilities, and implications they carry, connecting them to the environment I see around me. With this theoretical evaluation, I look at specific communication capacities through a philosophical lens, interpreting the observable impact they carry in my life. I depart to create a symbolic representation of these processes through a creative visual installation, accumulating specific aspects of these ideas that resonate so strongly with me. I explore the ways we use visual media in our lives and how we enable them to define who we are." |
