Dear YMCA Black Achiever Campers:

This is the third year of the Charles Beard Arts and Communication Exploration Program at Emerson College, and we are happy to have you attend. This year’s camp theme, “I Can Make A Difference – I Have a Voice”, will provide a great opportunity for exploration of the arts and communication.

Our two week program is named for Charles Beard, the first African American partner at a major Boston law firm and a former chairman of the Emerson Board of Trustees. Mr. Beard was a leader and served the Boston Community. Many of you will become leaders. It is my hope that your leadership will be in the arts and communication industries, which is our focus at Emerson College. I hope you learn things that you might wish to pursue in greater detail as you go through high school and on to college. Enjoy your time at the summer program.

Warmest greetings,

Jacqueline Liebergott
